人数をカウントしてわかること
人数を数えるのは何のため？
人数を数えるのには意図があります。
有名なものでは祭りのときに主催者や警察が発表する人出やイベントのときの来場者数などがあります。これらは警備のために必要であったり盛り上がっている雰囲気を出すためであったりといった意図があり算出されています。
では商売をしている人が通行人数や来店客数を数えて何をするかというと、自分たちの経営や営業に生かすということ以外にありません。
そうでなくては手間やお金をかけた意味がありません。
ではそこまで苦労して集めた人数をどう見ればよいのでしょう。
比較対象を設定する
まず集計した数字だけを見てもよくわかりません。
たとえば１０００人でしたといわれてもそれが多いのか少ないのかすらわかりません。
なので比較できる対象を設定します。
これは次の日も同じ場所で計測するでも良いですし、気になるライバルに関係するところを計測するとかでもＯＫでしょう。
とにかく手元にある数字がどのような数字なのかわかるための指標が必要なのです。
予想を立てる
手元にある数字が意味を持ってきたら、つぎにその理由を推測します。
なぜこの日は多いのか、なぜこの場所は少ないのか、なぜこの時間はパッとしないのか、なぜこの店は繁盛しているのか、などなど気になることを一つ一つ列挙して理由を考えていきます。
ここではまだ答えは見つからないと思いますが、予想を立てておくことが重要となります。
作戦を練る
状況が見えてきたら作戦を考えます。作戦を立てて実行に移すと先ほど立てた予想と同じ結果になったり、まったく違った結果になったりします。
手元に数字があってそれに基づいて考察し、さらに行動に移した結果が出てきたとなると、もう次のことを考え始める輝かしい未来しか見えませんね。
良いサイクルが回り始めるとトラブルが発生しても乗り越えられることでしょう。
この良いサイクルを作り出す最初のきっかけのために人数をカウントすることが必要だということなのですね。
